About the Spanish to English Interpreter Role
Crown Staffing is seeking a skilled and compassionate Spanish to English Interpreter to join a healthcare team in Louisville, KY. This position plays a key role in helping patients and providers communicate effectively by delivering accurate, confidential, and culturally appropriate interpretation services. The ideal candidate is fluent in both English and Spanish, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret messages accurately and completely between Spanish and English in both simultaneous and consecutive modes.
- Maintain the content, tone, and intent of the original message during interpretation.
- Switch seamlessly between Spanish and English to meet audience needs.
- Use reference materials (such as dictionaries and medical terminology guides) to ensure precision.
- Compile and verify terminology to maintain consistency across all interpretations.
- Coordinate with other interpreters to ensure patient coverage when needed.
- Assist staff in providing patient care support, including scheduling, patient calls, and general communication.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Fluency in both English and Spanish (spoken and written).
- Minimum of one year of Spanish/English interpretation experience, OR six months in a healthcare setting with completion of a 40-hour medical interpreter training program (e.g., Bridging the Gap or equivalent).
- Must pass a Medical Interpretation Exam as part of the hiring process.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professionalism in stressful situations.
