Market Development Manager Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, manufacturing, marketing, or a related field required
- Four or more years of experience in business development, sales, account management, engineering, manufacturing, or a related industrial environment
- Demonstrated ability to develop strong customer relationships and identify growth opportunities
- Manufacturing-industry experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge of metal-manufacturing processes, including roll forming, tube fabrication, welding, stamping, machining, or related technologies, highly preferred
- Experience with project management and new-product development
- Experience managing complex customer opportunities involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong business-development, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to understand customer needs and translate them into manufacturing solutions
- Strong analytical, strategic-planning, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to collaborate with customers, leadership, engineering, operations, and other internal teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and customer relationships
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within assigned market segments.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with prospective and existing customers.
- Serve as the primary customer advocate and market expert.
- Research market conditions, industry trends, competitors, and potential customers.
- Identify customer challenges and recommend innovative manufacturing solutions.
- Develop sales strategies and account-development plans that support company growth.
- Manage customer opportunities from initial contact through proposal, negotiation, and launch.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Finance, and leadership teams.
- Evaluate potential projects for technical feasibility, manufacturing capabilities, pricing, and long-term value.
- Support quoting, proposal development, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Coordinate customer requirements throughout the new-product-development process.
- Manage complex opportunities involving multiple customer and internal stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of customer activity, opportunities, forecasts, and project status.
- Monitor sales performance and provide updates to company leadership.
- Represent the organization professionally during customer meetings, presentations, industry events, and facility visits.
- Support continuous improvement in market-development and customer-engagement processes.
- Perform additional business-development duties as assigned.
